3) The new tab button could use refinement. 2) The empty space on light theme is pure white, which doesn’t always work well. Quick suggestions: 1) Tab pinning will need improvement. Edge has done a great job on this and could serve as inspiration. I’m sure you guys are aware of all of this. Collapsing a tab produces some weirdness. Tabs within a group are not indicated by any highlighting or any other visual cue unless the tab is selected. Tab grouping works, but still has a lot of rough spots. Dragging a tab out of and into a window works very nicely too. Just wanted to pass on some feedback recently had on Brave Community, just in case it might help in making some tweaks as you're still working on it:įirst, I’m glad Brave is actually doing this, so thank you! Vertical tabs is off to a good start. If you really want to introduce a visual indication of whether or not the title is truncated, you could turn the right edge shadow off for a line iff the title is fully shown, but it would be more complicated to implement and probably not worth it. A right-edge shadow is much more space-efficient. Using an elipsis to indicate truncation is horrible. Another thing to note is, if titles are getting truncated regularly due to limited space, we don't have room for an ellipsis. Tree style tabs isn't very useful ime, it's not worth sacrificing the space taken up with indents (unless you allow your indents to be very shallow, I guess). Making sure that most of each title is visible is important. I don't know if anyone's provided satisfying rationale here, the point of vertical tabs is that they let you show a fair amount of the titles of the tabs.
Regarding "needs mockup", can I just give you a screenshot of vivaldi and say "this is perfect, there is nothing to add or remove, if you do anything other than this you are getting it wrong"?
